Why is SQL Server security important?

 One might argue that since a SQL server is generally kept inside a firewall, it doesn’t need to be as secure as a machine exposed to the outside world. I disagree. Since statistics show that most attacks occur from within, making the SQL server as secure as possible should be a critical task no matter where it exists. In this article, we explore some of Microsoft SQL Server’s weaknesses and how we can negate them. The goal: To sleep at night.
